Design Team Call!!!!

Lil Bee's Boutique is looking to add 2 fun and creative designers to our design team!
Design team members will receive one free kit a month, depending on what kind of kit subscriptions they have.  Each designer will be showcased on the Lil Bee's blog, will have a link to their personal blog, and will be listed on a design team page on the website.  This is for a 1 month commitment that could be extended based on the desires of both the Design Team member and owners of Lil Bee's Boutique.
Design team members will be required to create 4 layouts/cards a month with the monthly kit and one other project of your choice ( altered art, home decor, calling card, ATC, etc.).  Design Team members are required to post a link to Lil Bee's Boutique on their personal blog, promote our kit club on their personal blog and Facebook page when each new kit is revealed, be a fan of Lil Bee's on Facebook, and market our kit club whenever possible, either online, by word of mouth, or with the kits we provide to you!  Design team members need to be able to make deadlines, have a positive, go-getter attitude, and be able to provide and receive constructive feedback.    We want the best design team possible, but also want our design team to be able to feature us!
If you are interested, please email 2 new unpublished projects with the following information to dml.dubai@gmail.com:
1.  Name, mailing address, phone number
2.  Links to your online galleries that show your work
3.  Link to your blog
4.  Become a fan of Lil Bee's Boutique on Facebook and send us a friend request
5.  A bio of yourself
6.  Answers to the following questions:  What design teams are you currently on?  What design teams have you been on in the past?  Why do you want to be on the Lil Bee's design team?  What do you think you can offer Lil Bee's members?  Whether or not you would be interested in designing a kit or having feedback in their design?
That’s it!  We are really looking forward to adding these two members and cannot wait to see what everyone has to offer!  We are looking at having these two slots filled by August 5th so the idea gallery will be featuring the new design team members in mid-August!

Welcome Design Team members , July 2010 (contd.)

Hey all!  I am so happy to announce the second addition to our Design Team…  Ritu Patel!  Here she is…

1. How long have you been scrapbooking/card making and how did you get started?

While I worked my way up in Advertising from Mumbai to Dubai there was always a need to do something exhilarating and stimulating. I always had an incessant penchant for art. From drawing to sketching and painting to craft. I’d spend most of my spare time working on different art projects. Then 3 years ago I was introduced to ‘Card Making’. Ever since then it has been an implausible experience. Each card revealed a whole new world for me. I purchased my first book to comprehend more about cards and since then I have been playing around with different materials, techniques, mediums, colors, embellishments and the list goes on. Each time I work on a project it is a gratifying experience only to know that when this card reaches the right hands it will bring a smile on their face. It’s a complete stress buster, time just flies and once I have completed the project it just brightens up my day.

2. From where do you draw inspiration?

What inspires me the most are the vast variety of patterned papers available to play around with while making the cards! The wide variety spins innumerable ideas in my head waiting to be tossed out. The occasion for which I am designing the greeting card also plays an important role. My attempt has always been to accentuate with different materials, embellishments to bring out the occasion. Finally to give a personalized touch to each card, especially made for you.

3. What are 3 other products that you can't live without?

The 3 products that I can never live without is black ink & black pen, my stamp collection, and my Cricut :)

All these things just make my projects more lively and fun-filled.

Q4. What did you enjoy about Lil Bees kits?

The kits offer a wide-range of papers to choose from for all types of crafting: scrapbooking and card making. The kits include speciality paper which allows us to play around with in scrapbooking and use them for our projects. We also revive co-ordinated stamp, wide range of Prima embellishments which are unique and different; this makes it easier for us to make a co-ordinated project.

Overall, I must confess when I lay my hands on the kit I couldn't take my hands off and have been busy designing cards with this kit.

Thank you for these lovely cards and hope to see more from you :) !

Welcome Design Team members , July 2010

Hey everyone! I am pleased to announce our very first design team member Tracy Belling! We are so excited to have her on board! Here she is…

My name is Tracy Belling and I would like to tell you a little about myself.
We are enjoying living here in Dubai and just love the warm friendly people and enjoy living in this exuberant ‘United Nations” atmosphere with all the beautiful sights and sounds which just inspire me as a Scrapbooker.
1.  How long have you been scrapbooking/card making and how did you get started?
Scrapbooking came to my life seven years ago by chance, when somebody gave me a kit for my birthday.  I opened it up and drank in the colours, shapes and designs and was instantly in love, despite never having been ‘arty’ before.  I love to teach scrapbooking, which I am very lucky to do at Paperlane and at my studio at home, there is nothing as fulfilling for me to see and hear the enjoyment scrapping brings to my students, it makes my heart sing!
2. From where do you draw inspiration?
Many scrapbook legends inspire me, but my favorite at the moment is Nic Howard. I am very much a mixed media Scrapbooker and my natural style is shabby chic, vintage, full of shapes and texture.
3. What are 3 other products that you can't live without?

The three products that I could not live without at the moment (note at the moment, because it changes all the time, hey girls J ) is my Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium matt gel,  all my Adirondack Paint Dabbers, and my Tim Holtz Tonic Scissors – where have you been all these years!
4.What did you enjoy about Lil Bee's Kits?

I would like to say that I am very excited to be one of the design team members for Li’l Bee Scrapbook Kits, and I will do my best to inspire you all.  I really like the fact that I will be able to invest in my stash by adding to it with eclectic, unusual ephemera that Li’l Bee will choose for us – I see it as having my own personal shopper, to bring me special delights to create with.  As a busy working mum, I need to really use my time wisely, and I don’t get time to search out all the treasures I need to create my layouts.  I know so many of you ask me these questions – what goes with which page, how do I co-ordinate? Etc.  Well now Li’l Bee will shop for you.  Now if only I can find someone to do that for me with my work outfits!  J
This single page layout was done using the pages from the June "Li'l Bee"  Kit - and what a gorgeous happy set of papers, it was probably  one of the quickest layouts I have done in a while, because everything just came together so delightfully.  I used the "Hello Sunshine"  lettering included as my title which I affixed to the flower-shaped die-cut.  A second die-cut formed the background to my photo, I was also able to use the gorgeous acrylic stamp set from the June Kit, to add a bird, a BEE in honor of Li'l Bee of course, and the scrolly doodle shape - I can see doodle appearing on many of my layouts in the future!  I added my own flower and butterfly elements from my stash.  I want to share with you also that on the layout to the righthand side at the bottom and the lefthand side at the top, you will see a red scalloped shape stapled to each side.  I added these elements for balance, but what is interesting about them is that I cut these out of the template sheet which the scalloped die-cut behind my photo was held in, so it was in my bin but the scalloped shape caught my eye and I salvaged it from there.  It was white so I colored it red with a black border with my Copic Marker Pens.  I also used the Copic Markers to colour in the bird and the bee.

What a fun, happy layout - it just makes me smile!  :)  Thank you Li'l Bee for selecting these papers for me ....

Thank you Tracy for inspiring us with this lovely layout!!
